A Dream Among Dreams: Taking On Yoga’s Headstand

I dream a lot, but one dream stood out recently: I saw myself in a handstand position – whirling my legs around like I was an acrobatic superstar.
Um, yeah right. I love yoga, but I’m a self-proclaimed beginner and I shy away from balancing poses. To be honest, I (sometimes maybe) roll my eyes as the yogis doing headstands in class. They are so darn coordinated and strong – it’s annoying!
BUT seeing myself doing a headstand in my dream, I felt strong and empowered. Imagine hanging upside down like a monkey? Imagine whirling your legs like walking on clouds?
Inversion poses like headstands have great hidden health benefits too. By allowing blood to circulate from the toes to the head, the increased blood circulation to the brain can improve brain function, including intelligence and memory! The pose may also relieve mild stress and depression.
I’m officially taking on YOGA’S HEADSTAND POSE as my next REM Runner challenge. Wish me luck, balance, strength and concentration!
You can ABSOLUTELY do this! I was so afraid of headstand for many years…it just took one teacher to spend a few minutes with me after class….falling several times and realizing I won’t get hurt…and the realization that I was stronger than I realized. You’ve totally got this!!
