Speaking at Current Concepts in Sleep Conference
Over Labor Day weekend, I traveled to Tampa Bay, Florida to speak at the Current Concepts in Sleep Conference. Seeing tears in people’s eyes, I knew I’d opened their hearts to the REAL narcolepsy. It was an honor to present my journey to sleep doctors and technicians. Throughout the conference, Project Sleep was well-represented! Sleep Walk Tampa Bay host, Jessica Davenport and I handed out information and promoted the upcoming Sleep Walk. We met some really amazing people and raised a lot of awareness.
Another highlight was Dr. Jose Colon‘s presentation on sleep, stress and anxiety. After Dr. Colon’s presentation, I must admit that I locked myself in a bathroom and sobbed. I cried because Dr. Colon had just told a room full of sleep doctors that I was an inspiration and changing the sleep world. I cried because Jessica had secured a TV news channel to cover Sleep Walk Tampa Bay. I cried because I dreamed this dream a while ago, and watching the world rise to carry Project Sleep has been surreal.
The entire weekend filled my heart with gratitude and joy. Thank you to Jessica for bringing me to Tampa Bay and being my co-advocate all weekend. Thank you to Marietta and Janice for inviting me to speak. Thank you to the volunteers and attendees who made the weekend unforgettable.
