Speaking at FIU Medical School

Screen shot 2013-10-30 at 11.12.27 AMOn Monday, October 21, I had the honor of presenting at FIU Medical School to first and second year med students. I shared my journey with narcolepsy – from the mysterious beginning symptoms to diagnosis and treatment.

I explained my transformation from hating narcolepsy to becoming a leading narcolepsy advocate – raising my voice up and giving others the courage to join me. The NARCOLEPSY: NOT ALONE campaign was the highlight grand finale of the presentation.

I will cherish this experience for a long time. Thank you to Bob Dillinger and the Neuroscience Interest Group for inviting me to the Florida International University Medical School. Thank you to Nicole and Diann Newman for making this all possible.

Dear Julie, I just wanted to let you know that I too have narcolepsy…pretty bad. I really have a hard time staying awake even to the point of setting down an crying because I am so tired. I have been going to a Chiropractor in my home town of Ashtabula, Ohio. I can Honestly tell you that I AM seeing results. The Doctor tells me that one day I will be off all of my “wake-up med’s”. I just wanted to share this with you. Sincerely yours, Tanya L. Anderson
