Chronic illness can be ugly. So when I discovered PWNY Beads jewelry & replacement Medical ID bracelets, I smiled long and hard. PWNY Beads brings beauty and dignity back to Medical ID bracelets.
Personally, I struggled with Medical ID bracelets after diagnosis. The “prettiest” options were expensive and sterile and I feared being labeled as sick. When I ran the Boston Marathon, I finally purchased one to wear during training and on race day.
PWNY Beads is a game-changer. I’ll be purchasing one as soon as I finish writing this post!

PWNY Beads has heart. Owner, Maker and Designer, Julie Ann Funk was diagnosed with narcolepsy with cataplexy in 2011, after dealing with strange and difficult symptoms for 25 years.
Julie’s shop all started because of her search for affordable and attractive medical ID replacement bands. Having to wear one for her own medical condition, she searched for attractive alternatives to the standard steel chain bands and was disappointed to find that most sites sold these products for $60-$100 and higher.
The idea of PWNY Beads was born!
Julie Ann keeps the prices of her items affordable. She loves making each piece, describing, “It’s an amazing feeling to sit there and hold something you just designed, created, and completed. It’s hard for me to put a price on any of these pieces, because it’s just so much fun, and so incredible to be able to spend my days doing this.”
